I love looking at the referrals to my page. How do people find my blog? Why do they look at this when Google comes up with ten million other sites, most of which would probably be better suited to their taste? At least the blog doesn't seem to attract weirder searches. Thank goodness. Monster Socks seems to be about the strangest search. Sorry guys, the Monster part refers to the anime I was watching (psychological thriller! Woo!). The socks themselves are just a nice pair of stripy knee-highs.
But hey, I want to hear from you! If you see this post, I would love for you to leave a comment and tell why you're here. Please? It'd be awesome. :D

Some say the devil is dead and buried in Killearny
Whew, hi, I'm back! I went to Utah and didn't do a blessed thing except, y'know, maybe
finish a sock. That'd be Scout's Swag Sock something in Orchid in the Chevron pattern of Sensational Knitted Socks (psst, if you check out Zooba, they have it for $10. But you gotta sign up and they require a good explanation for why you want to leave when you do. But good books there, yes!) on size #1 US DPNs. Phew. The second one is about midway up the foot, not at the heel yet.
I picked up where I had left off on Mim's Mountain Peaks Shawl and I'm on Chart 3 now. I did enough tinking to make my head spin but that's what happens when you are watching Avatar: The Last Air-bender as you knit. I'm sometimes not so smart.
The Nantucket Jacket is currently blocking. Well, all except the right front panel because I do NOT have enough room! Madness! I should have blocked as I went. It's what I did for the Rogue, after all. Bother and drat.
Anyways, that's about all the fun stuff I have to update you on regarding knitting. I had an AWESOME time in Utah. I got caught up in the madness and fun of Buster Keaton with my bestest best friends Emily, Kristy, and Melanie. I ate out at Zupas, which is the best soup/salad/sandwich place IN THE WORLD (dear Lawrence, do you want to be more awesome? Then get a Zupas. Although I do love you for Jimmy Johns, I guess nowhere's perfect) and saw my beautiful new nephew, Kade, who looks like my sister this time instead of my bro-in-law.
And I still can't respond to comments via Haloscan which is a real pain in the as...cetabulum. If I can't figure out some program that allows me to reply to comments, I might just move everything over to Greatest Journal or something like that.
Now that might not be such a bad idea. Hmm.

Not until a hot January (or a chilly August)
First off, check out who's the new editor for Interweave Knits! YAY FOR EUNNY! I feel I should have a little cabinet with her picture and yarny streamers ala Alton Brown's dedication to "King" Louis Pasteur. If you don't know what I mean, it's on the episode of Good Eats called Churn Baby Churn II. I think.
As for my knitting, well, the topic is meant to mean when I'll be able to wear this Nantucket Jacket. It's supposed to hit almost 80 this week and I still have a sleeve and all that finishing left to go. Woe! No way am I wearing something made of dark purple Cascade 220 when it's not 40-some degrees or below. Oh well, I'll have it for next year, though I will more than likely have to re-knit it since I am definitely losing weight (6 pounds since January 1 with plenty more to lose). Oh well, it's all about the joy of knitting, right? ...right?
Or I'll just frog all that yarn again and make something better, I don't know, I'm about done with that yarn, this is the second incarnation it's had and the Nantucket Jacket has been a bit of a tedious knit. Some people thrive on cables and decreases and increases to keep the project from being dull. I rather like how I can just zoom along in knit/purl stockinette. I have to keep focused on this thing.
Whatever, next project is to finish the Mountain Peaks Shawl. It's destined for my mom, hopefully in time for her radiation.
No, she doesn't want anymore socks.

Finished: Mom's Pomatomus
This is the third pair of socks for my mom.
Stats
Yarn: Gedifra Sportivo
Needles: Size #1 Susan Bates DPNs.
Pattern: Knitty's Pomatomus
Time it took: Approximately 32-36 hours cumulative.
Size: Fits Woman's Shoe size 8.5
The one thing I really appreciate about this pattern is that it really does have a rhythm to it that is easy to fall into. However, it takes a lot of yarn and it takes a lot of time. At any rate, she liked these, too.

Hallo Haloscan!
I switched over, frustrated with the inability to return comments. So now you don't have to think I've got some sort of superiority complex where I don't return comments or anything.
However, previous comments, they are gone. I'm sorry. Have an internet consolatory hug and we'll call it even.

This one's for my Lime & Violet Yarn Pr0n Swap pal
1. What kind of fibers do you prefer?
Oh, I like higher-quality type wool. I'm always open to accept merino and alpaca and the like into my yarn family. It's aaalll good.
2. What kind of weight do you prefer (sock, worsted, bulky)?
Generally if I'm going to get any sort of weight yarn, I want enough for a whole project. At this point, it's cheaper to get sock yarn for me but I love it all.
3. Do you spin?
Yes but not at the moment.
4. Do you crochet?
Sure do but I prefer knitting.
5. Are there any books, patterns, magazines would you like to own that you don't?
Barbara Walker Treasure books. Any of 'em.
6. Are you participating in any themed a-longs like the Project Spectrum?
Just the Yarn Focus Challenge where I ponder my purchases before I make 'em. It's a little like a yarn stash diet but not quite. I still accept presents of yarn. <3
7. Do you have a wishlist on Amazon.com or Half.com? (provide a link)
Here's mine. I will make you chocolate cookies if you get me Doctor Who. *wicked grin* I'm teasing, it's not required.
8. Any Etsy stores that you would love to get something from?
I adore this seller's earrings and, uh, anything else. I'm open.
9. What other crafty things are you involved in (quilting, drawing, painting)?
I love to draw.
10. What is your favorite sort of scent?
I love Rain-scented things. Things that kind of smell fresh, nothing that smells like food.
11. Do you have a sweet tooth and what kind of sweets do you like best?
I'm a real sucker for Junior Mints. And homemade goodies are maaarvelous.
12. What kind of music do you like?
Hmm, I like Celtic music sung by women artists. I'm also a fan of Sara McLachlan, Tori Amos, October Project, Blackmore's Night, etc. Kinda get the genre? I don't think there's a specific name for it.
13. What do you like to knit? And for whom?
I love lace and I'm knitting for various people.
14. What sort of things do you like to collect?
Dragons! I like more elegant sort of dragons (and I have the Dragonology books, they're awesome). Goofy dragons, eh, not so much.
15. Do you want needles? And what kind do you prefer?
I am a really big fan of Susan Bates DPNs. I have plenty of 1s and 2s but smaller I do not have. *ahem*
I realize that perhaps I'm a little difficult to shop for but sock yarn is awesome, dragons are neat, homemade goodies are the bomb. ;3 Decent guidlelines, no?
P.S. About colors, I LOVE cool colors (greens, blues, purples, especially all together, whee!) and burgundies.
P.P.S. for everyone else, I PASSED MY LAST UNIT EXAM!!! It was so killer, I really didn't think I'd pass it and I'd abandoned most everything to study it (including knitting) but it was worth it! Yay!
