L is for

Lace! And being Lazy as Toast. And Love which I'd like to really experience, especially after watching the end of Wonderfalls for the second time yesterday. Ah, Tyron Leitso, you make my heart flutter, mmm...er...where was I? Oh yes. Lace.

Anyways, everyone remember this?


That's right, it's how long the Baltic Sea Stole after one skein of Knitpicks Shadow in Vineyard. Well, that was back in March. It was July when she passed the two skein mark. Wanna see how far along she is now? Wow, don't all speak up at once.



Pretty sharp, don't you think? She's about four feet long. And it's become kind of like a cat in the lap to knit on. And since I'm knitting in a basement, I'm not dying of heat when I knit on her either. She's just really comforting and friendly. I tend to story-write with my close friend Briana as I knit with her so there's a lot of really good creative energy in this thing. And when I wrap her around my shoulders, I feel happy since I knit when I'm happy. I don't engage in Emo Knitting. You will find nary a doll head or safety pin in my knitting. Unless the safety pin is a stitch marker. Sometimes I think I wear my dragon ring just as a substitute stitch marker until I can find the one I've inevitably dropped.

Anyways, I'm also working on Hedera but because I was being a goose, I tried to knit her in the dark by feel, which almost worked except I remembered one of the rows incorrectly and she will have to be frogged. And since I don't believe in photographically documenting my stupidity, we'll just have to leave it unphotographed.

And now to do a little packing because parents will be here today or tomorrow, depending on how insane they really feel like being. The fruit doesn't fall far from the tree here!

Specs
Yarn: Mainly Misti Alpaca Sport and then the purple trim is Knitpicks Shadow in Vineyard. Yes, I stole it off my stole, har har.
Needles: Good ol' aluminum Boye in 3s.
Notes How DID the girl get these not to curl? I blocked but it was very awkward and consisted on washing and kind of trying to get it laid out on a clean towel but still the Knitpicks laceweight curled like a moth...moth. Yes. Moth. Quite curly buggers.

Anyways, they have been packed off with care to the recipient and it's been months since then. I've always hoped she'd post pictures since she really does like to photograph things, but she hasn't. Ah well, they may end up photographed when it's not so everlovin' hot outside.

Dear KnitPicks, thanks for finding me my mom's Christmas present. Yes, I'm considering getting them all because she can't possibly use them all and then I can snitch one from her. I will miss Utah badly but with how humid it's been out here, it's like Kansas is calling to me and calling loud and hard. Okay already, I'm heading back!

Howdy Stranger!

I don't know if anyone's noticed, but I have failed to post for nearly a month. Ah well, it's not like I haven't been knitting, it's just that I haven't been documenting my knitting.

I have a treat though. My Trekking socks are finished. Want to see? Of course you do, shut up.



Yarn: Trekking XXL Color 107
Needles: Size 1 Susan Bates DPNs.
Pattern: Evelyn Skae's Creeping Vines Socks (caution, opens to a .pdf file).
Modifications
Toes: I didn't like the point to the very end, and so once I had decreased every other row and had about 32 stitches or so on the needles, I decreased every row until I got down to 20 stitches and then grafted them together.
Heel: Actually, I didn't do this, but the heel as explained in the pattern gave a very stiff and dense knitted fabric. I would suggest in future to just keep it stockinette. However, it did ask to knit 1, then slip one purlwise and vice versa on the wrong side. It seemed tedious and created twisted stitches, so I knit 1 and then slipped one knitwise and vice versa for the wrong side. No problems noted at all.



I really like Trekking. It is very soft yarn, though I didn't initially really believe it would be. But putting it on and taking it off reinstated my love for the socks. I'm glad I'm making mom a pair. :)
